Community Experience Hamden
 Community Experience Hamden is a full service program that offers opportunities for individuals with multiple and diverse disabilities to participate in personal choices within their environment and in their local community.
The location of this program is in a small business plaza in a central part of Hamden. From this location, the individuals can walk to coffee shops, restaurants, stores, hair and nail salons. Some of the individuals have challenging behavioral needs that are met by our highly trained staff. There is also a quiet area for these individuals with relaxing mats, chairs and music. At this site, the individuals can choose to participate in activities base upon their personal choices as well as establish friendships with other individuals. Among the activities are arts and crafts, music therapy, sign language classes, parties, men and women’s groups, cooking classes and writing letters to family and friends.
These individuals participate in a variety of volunteer sites in the Hamden area and surrounding towns. Other community activities include movies, bowling, museums, and the library. The seniors in this program also participate in the local Senior Center for lunch and activities.
