Cakes Plus
Cakes Plus is located on Cook Avenue in Meriden. It is a food service business operated by the Arc of Meriden-Wallingford. Cakes Plus employs 14 individuals to work on a variety of food service jobs including food preparation, daily lunch menu, catering, retail sales, bakery menu, general cleaning and dishwashing. 

Cakes Plus is known for its Death by Chocolate. The individuals have created pies, cakes, cookies, sweet breads, danish, soups, breaded chicken, spaghetti, salads, fruit compote, sandwiches and much, much more. They have done catering jobs including breakfast at the mall, seminars, parties, dances, family functions, and picnics. 

Cakes Plus also participates in community events such as the Taste of Meriden, Daffodil Festival and the Taste of Wallingford.

Individuals who are interested in working in Cakes Plus would require the following skills:

	Minimal assistance with personal needs
	Ability to remain on task for a minimum of one hour
	Ability to follow directions with minimal assistance
	Ability to use the necessary utensils cautiously and safely to prevent accidents
	Ability to use chemicals properly and safely (i.e. dishwasher liquid, dish soap, floor cleanser)
	Able to tolerate loud noises
	Ability to work as a team member with minimal interference to other employees

The employees work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with ½ hour break for lunch.

Highly trained staff provides assistance with job coaching, personal needs, medical needs including medication administration, future dream building, and person centered planning, personal relationship building, self-advocacy, advocacy and behavioral management.
